Following the publication of a local
newspaper article, I received a couple of snail mail letters from local residents. Each sent me a copy of the
newspaper clipping and a note. One person used to work in radio, and the other was from a gentlemen I used to work for in
a job not related to radio.
I have been weighing the pros and cons
of the LPFM radio project, and have now come up with a list of pros and cons.
On the pro side:
Big D Country's format would be more easily accessible
Localism would be greatly improved
Shut-ins and the elderly could listen
Better opportunities for underwriting support than
as web-only
On the con side:
Subject to FCC regulations
and restructions
Added expenses
The need to put up
a tower
The question of: what happens to the LPFM if we are ever forced to move to a different
location
At this point, I do plan to apply. However, it is not the end
of the world if I don't get one. I have a Plan B now in place, and it is not radio related.

I am a bit disheartened at the lack of support for a format folks say they would like to have
available. The non-response has really got me wondering whether pushing for the LPFM is worth the effort.
At this moment, well, I am just not sure whether this community wants it or not.
